Top tips to help liven up your Christmas meal

The Christmas meal is a beloved tradition, with a definitive set of ingredients and accompaniments. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t experiment! Here are some of our tips to make your Christmas even tastier. As long as you have the Christmas classics on the plate, your family will be sure to appreciate a few extra flourishes, to help make this Christmas a standout special.

Elevate Your Parsnips

Perhaps the most unfairly maligned aspect of any Christmas meal is the parsnip, or just about any vegetable that isn’t a potato! Which is a shame, because in the right hands a parsnip can be a delicious addition to any plate. If you want to go the classic route, make sure to roast them in a slathering of honey and fresh herbs like rosemary. Or, to really get inventive, make spicy parsnip fries. Sprinkled with a dash of cumin and paprika and then deep fried in oil should give you something with a bit of crunch and a slight kick.

Flavoured Butters

Flavoured butters are a simple way to elevate any classic dish, and they can be made handily in advance and kept in the fridge! Ideal for roasting and frying as well as a table accompaniment there are so many different possible variations your only limit is imagination. But, we’d have to recommend either an aromatic parsley butter or for that boozy note, a decadent whiskey butter, whether you’re looking for handy food ideas and recipes to impress the family this Christmas, or simply want to liven up your daily meals.
